Dear friends:
Many thanks to those who offered kind comments and great suggestions
in the past few months. We are very pleased here to announce a few
new things coming from CueTable.
Software Development
BarCueTable
We
have developed a 7ft Bar Table Version of CueTable software called
BarCueTable. It operates the same as the regular CueTable software.
The URL address is http://CueTable.com/B/
.
BarCueTable was designed carefully using real
measurements ofa 7 ft regulation table. It has a playing surface
of 40" x 80" with the same sized pockets as found on a
9 ft pool table. For comparative studies, one can switch a layout
on a 7ft table to one on a 9ft table by changing the URL header
from http://CueTable.com/B/ to http://CueTable.com/P/ .
There are a lot of bar tables around the US and
we believe it is important to provide a tool for fellow bar players
to describe shots. In addition, to encourage communication between
bartable players, we have created a Bartable
Talk section in CueTable
Public Library where you can post a BarCueTable Layout
to share with people around the country.

Cut-Angle Calculator
While
developing prototypes for future versions of the software, we have
gathered some really a few great ideas from advanced instructors
including Tom Simpson of PoolClinics,
Jerry Breiseth of ThePoolSchool
and Ira Lee of HighRock Production. We
feel some of the prototype modules can be greatly helpful to people
so we are going to provide them to the public.
Cut-Angle Calculator will be the first installment:
There are a cue ball and an object ball on the table. One can drag
them around to get an instant calculation of the cut angle, the
parallel projected ghost ball overlap percentage and the extended
aiming line/tangent line markings on the rail.
The goals of the new Cut-Angle Calculator:
1, To Help the Current Biliard Education -Fellow
billiard instructors and players can use this free tool to visualize
shots and to encourage further aiming studies.
2, To Bring Billiards into Education- High school
students can use this fun teaching aid when they are learning trigonometry.
We would like to invite high school teachers and associated educators
to work on lesson plan ideas. Together we can bring pool back to
school and get more younger minds interested in our sport.

CueTable Public Library Updates
Recently
we created a public educational forum that is carefully designed
to host multimedia elements such as video or CueTable software layouts.
It is a place where people can archive, reference and search for
all kinds of layout information about all kinds of shots.
After a few in-depth discussions with educators
in our sport, we came to realize 90% of pool players today are at
C and D level. It is hard for them to ask questions and get proper
answers from professional educators. We have created a section called
"What
to do here? " at CueTable Public Library. Currently there
are numerous BCA certified instructors who have kindly committed
to help by providing professional instructions in this section of
the Public Library.
We are pleased to know CueTable has been an important
tool in your learning. It will be very helpful to even more people
if the layouts get archived in an organized fashion. We understand
people all have their own favorite places to be on the Iinternet.
We simply ask you to save a link in the Layout
Despository section of CueTable Public Library, after
you have used CueTable in rec.sport.billiard, AZbilliard Forum,
OnePocket.org or Billiard Digest Forum. This way, you can share
the layout with even more people for years to come.

CueTable Demo at the BCA 8-Ball National
Championship
With
great helps from Randy Goettlicher of Cue Tech, I will have a CueTable
workshop for BCA Instructors at CueTech room in the morning of May
17th and 18th. In the sesssion I will give an hands-on class on
diagramming shots, inform the latest development and discuss the
potential of CueTable software.
In addition, I would like to form a special interest
group meeting for people who would like to work together on CueTable
projects. Please email us via info@cuetable.com if you are interested.

Assisting ESPN show: 3-Cushion Grandmaster
CueTable
is honored to be part of the upcoming ESPN
show: "3-Cushion Grandmaster"
featuring world class players including Semih Sayginer, Mike Massey
and Eric Yow. In the preproduction stage we have helped by creating
all the shot layouts to be presented to the competition judges at
the time of the event. All layouts will be available for public
viewing at the Carom Cafe section of CueTable Public Library.
In addition, we have prepared a nice-looking lobby
poster for the event. If you are within 50 miles
radius of the Riviera Hotel on the afternoon of May
16th, please do make an effort to come and join this
wonderful event and be part of billiard history.

Corey Dueul's Challenge on Running A Rack
of Balls
Corey
Dueul created a new game for pool. The objective is to run a rack
of balls in the least amount of strokes (similar to golf rules).
He was taking bets on running a rack of balls in 12 shots at the
Super Billiards Expos 2007. According to him, his best record was
9 on a 9 foot table.
Together with Paul Smith of Diamond Billiard Products,
we have filmed and edited a great run by him on a Gabriels 7 ft
table. We have uploaded the footage to YouTube and Google Video.
All layouts have been drawn using the new BarCueTable for people
to study and discuss.
